Local Business Leaders join forces to pay tribute to a DeSoto County Legend
A piece of history is coming to Silo Square 🎶 For the past year the City of Southaven and community leaders have aimed to memorialize and thank worldwide legend and DeSoto County resident, Jerry Lee Lewis, through a memorial scholarship and life-sized statue. Notable accomplishments throughout Jerry Lee’s musical career included induction into the both the Rock-N-Roll and County Music Hall of Fames, being a regular on the Billboard Country Charts, and being the “Last Man Standing” in the Million Dollar Quartet along with Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash. The memorial statue and scholarship came with the blessing of Jerry Lee and family prior to his passing on October 28, 2022 here in DeSoto County.
The life-size bronze statue will be located in front of Lucky Dog Music Hall & Bar located in Silo Square. The statue is slated to be unveiled Fall 2024 and will stand to honor a worldwide music legend for years to come.
The Jerry Lee Lewis Statue and Scholarship is made possible thanks to Presenting Sponsor, F&F Construction, and other businesses including Delta Regional Foundation.
