a traditional neighborhood development
Town squares are the heart and soul of many towns in America and even more so here in the Southeast. Even in much larger cities like Memphis and New Orleans, there are many downtown streets that were built in an era when architectural character and charm were at its best.
At some point in my life, I began to admire the details, cherish the charm, and feel the vibe of these areas. For years it has been a dream of mine to develop a Traditional Neighborhood Development with a town square and surrounding residential community. Over the past few years, I've visited numerous Traditional Neighborhood Development's across the southeast. Essentially, I've been on a decade long research mission gathering ideas, pictures, thoughts and opinions of what makes these projects so special.
The Snowden Farm property in Southaven, MS is the perfect place to create such a development. Silo Square® won't be just any "ole" development, and here are a few reasons why:
Countless hours have gone into the master plan to ensure that the entire development is exceptionally pedestrian friendly connecting all of the residential development via a multi use path to the Square. Once there, you will find very wide sidewalks, patios and plazas ensuring a quaint, enjoyable and safe setting, then continuing across Getwell Rd. to Snowden Grove Park.
The City of Southaven has done an amazing job creating one of the nicest parks in the US right here in our backyard, and based on what I've seen and heard, they're far from done. Silo Square® represents an opportunity to build upon the energy that Snowden Grove Park, the Amphitheater and this entertainment district already creates. Click on "Snowden Grove events" for the parks ever changing calendar of events.
When Southaven was originally developed, there was no town square. Therefore, we now have an unique opportunity to develop a de facto town square giving our community the sense of place it deserves. A local architectural firm familiar with traditional design has been retained to ensure buildings will reflect the character and charm of the town squares that we all so cherish.
Over the next few years as Silo Square® develops and grows into a very special place, I hope you will embrace and enhance the vibe and energy on your Square, support your local businesses , restaurants and farmers market, relish the character of Silo Square's iconic namesake monument, appreciate the timeless architecture and streetscapes, and enjoy its convenience to all the events at Snowden Grove Park and the Amphitheater.
I could not be more proud to be bringing this amazing development to my hometown for you to enjoy!
